On May 3, 2016, Hospitality Talk#1 was held at Hospitality Hub. The event concentrated on the topic: F&B: Service – VIP style and brought about useful information for young talents having passions in Hospitality and Tourism.
Hospitality Talk is a non-profit project which is carried out by the Management Committee of Vietnam Hospitality Network (VHN). As one of the core activities to develop high quality human resources of Tourism and Hospitality in the period of 2015 – 2020, the series of Hospitality Talk will be organized in 10 big cities in Vietnam for all students and young talents who have passion in Tourism and Hospitality. Hospitality Talk aims to provide participants with service-related knowledge and experiences from experts, and then helps them to have be more active and gain more self-confidence through direct interaction with guest speakers.
The Management Committee of VHN are aware that most of students in this sector now are reluctant to mention their career orientation, as they lack of real life experiences as well as practice environment. Thus, we choose: SERVICE– VIP STYLE as the first Hospitality Talk of 2016’s topic. With new ways of organizing, we attracted many students.
Our guest speaker for Hospitality Talk#1 was Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Thao, the manager of Buffet restaurant, Lobby Lounge, Singapore Lounge of Caravelle, a five-star luxurious hotel placed in the center of Ho Chi Minh city.
With her own experience, Ms. Nguyen enthusiastically shared with the participants necessary skills to become a successful manager in F&B. Moreover, she also helped them to know more about the basic mistakes that we often suffered and ways to overcome them, as well as provided the participants with some tactics to satisfy picky customers.
Moreover, the participants also had real opportunity to set up western tables and receive guidance of how to gain a 5-star professional service style.
The Hospitality Talk#1 was successful with positive feedbacks from participants. VHN, in general and the Organizing Committee of Hospitality Talk in particular hope that Hospitality Talk with its profound topics will become a meaningful environment for students and experts to sharp their knowledge, gain new experiences, enlarge their relationship and finally create more development and career opportunities for young talents.
